SMSF Investment Strategy

Before you invest in your SMSF you must comply to current Super Laws by formulating and giving effect to an investment strategy.  An investment strategy is also an important plan towards maximising returns on your SMSF.

A SMSF investment strategy sets out your funds investment objectives and how you plan to achieve them.   It takes into account the personal circumstances of all the fund members, including their age and risk tolerance.

At Leenane Templeton we work with you to produce a written investment plan to help with your superannuation strategy and to show your decisions comply with the super laws.

We can help to review your SMSF investment strategy regularly to ensure it meets the needs of the members.  It is recommended by the ATO that a documented review should happen at least annually.

Within your SMSF investment strategy we can help you to consider the members needs and circumstances, diversification of assets, the risk and returns to members, the liquidity of the funds assets, the funds ability to pay benefits, any insurances, and the administration.

Insurance

Trustees will also be required to consider “whether the trustees of the fund should hold a contract of insurance that provides insurance cover for one or more members of the fund.” We help to review your insurances and see whether you should hold insurance cover for members within your SMSF.
